With the rapid development of economy, the tightening of resource constraints, serious environmental pollution and ecosystem degradation have become a serious challenge for us. As a big country of production, consumption and discard of electrical and electronic equipment （EEE）, Chinese government has issued laws and policies, such as Circular Economy Promotion Law, Regulations on WEEE Recycling since 2009 to build a new WEEE recycling industry based on EPR system.

 

Just as their counterparts in developed countries, Chinese elections industry is not only facing much pressure of upgrading products, but also facing challenges from management of their products at the end of life. With the implementation of the Regulation for years, Chinese EPR system has kept being reviewed and readjusted.

 

The International Conference on EPR & WEEE Recycling has been successfully held annually since 2005, attracting various participants from government officials, experts, associations and all kinds of organizations, as well as representatives from producers, collectors, recyclers from China, the United States, Europe, Southeast Asia and other countries and regions.

The 2019 Conference will continue to be organized by the China Household Electric Appliance Research Institute （CHEARI）, Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, Tongji University, China Culture & Office Equipment  Association, China Resources Recycling Association, China National Resources Recycling Association, China Used Goods Trade Association and China Quality Management Association for Electronics Industry, China Academy of Environmental Sciences, Hefei University of Technology, Shanghai Polytechnic University, EPR Alliance will jointly organize this event.

 

The 2019 conference will update the progress of EPR system for EEE industry with perspective of internationalization, and discuss the way to improve EPR system in China. At the same time, the conference will initiate the dialogue among stakeholders on several hot topics, including alternative mechanism of EPR system, new recycling business mode, second-hand market for household appliances products and green supply chain management, etc. We will address the regulation, standards, advanced technological and new business mode, to enhance the management and technology level of WEEE recycling, to promote exchanges and cooperation within the producers, retailers, collectors, recyclers, remanufacturing at home and abroad.

The Secretariat of the conference calls for posters presentation on WEEE recycling and green development. We offer travel awards to students contributing excellent poster presentations on the conference.  

 

Call for case studies on EEE recycling

The Secretariat of the conference calls for case studies from the EEE producers, retailers, collectors, recyclers, and related institutions, which have innovative solutions in green supply chain management, business mode or technologies for recycling. The excellent case studies will win the “Bochuang Cup” on the Conference.

 

Exhibition and exchange:

The Conference will set up poster exhibition to present student research project and case studies of best practices of companies in EPR practice, innovative recycling business model, WEEE treatment technology etc. At the same time, we will provide the area near the Conference hall to facilitate exchange within the participants.
